Course Outcomes: Structural Engineering Design-II

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C307.1 Analyze adequacy of shape and selection of grade of structural steel.
C307.2 Analyze the proper fasteners for connection of various steel member.
C307.3 Design and analyze tension member using Limit State Method.
C307.4 Design and, analyze compression members using Limit State Method.
C307.5 Design and analyze beams using Limit State Method.

Course Outcomes: Geotech Engineering-II

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C308.1 Analyze the stability of slopes using different methods for calculation of factor of safety.
C308.2 Calculate the values of earth pressure for different cases using different theories.
C308.3 Analyze the properties of shallow foundations in different soils and calculate the bearing capacity and settlement.
C308.4 Apply the properties of deep foundations for stability analysis and design in different types of soil.
C308.5 Evaluate the effects of expansive and contaminated soils on foundation design and propose remedial measures.

Course Outcomes: Environmental Engineering-I

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C309.1 Analyze the water demand of a city or a town for a given design period, considering factors affecting water demand and by using population forecasting techniques.
C309.2 Analyze water with respect to the availability and quality required for the design of treatment units and their proper utilization for fulfilling the demand.
C309.3 Design treatment units including grit chambers and sedimentation tanks with and without coagulants as a part of primary treatment process of water.
C309.4 Design slow sand and rapid sand filters as secondary treatment units with their constructional and operational requirements followed by special treatment covering disinfection, chlorination, softening, iron removal and fluoridation of water.
C309.5 Analyze water distribution system for their layout and pressure requirements and calculate storage capacity of distribution reservoirs.
C309.6 Understand causes and sources of air pollution and pollutants generated from them along with their ill effects on plants, animals and humans and the function of air pollution control equipment.

Course Outcomes: Concrete Technology

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C310.1 Analyze the properties of concrete making material.
C310.2 Analyze the properties of fresh concrete along with the effect of admixtures on it.
C310.3 Analyze the properties of hardened concrete.
C310.4 Design the required concrete mix using ACI, British and IS Code methods.
C310.5 Analyze special concrete and concreting techniques.

Course Outcomes: Information Theory & Coding

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C311.1 Understand the objective & functions of construction management and acquire the knowledge of stages of planning & scheduling through bar chart, milestone charts.
C311.2 Analyze and compute the time estimate for projects using application of PERT.
C311.3 Evaluate the different activity time through the CPM network.
C311.4 Understand the importance of cost control and resource economic analysis of allocation in engineering projects.
C311.5 Apply information system and safety provision in construction and also assess the quality control aspects.

Course Outcomes: GIS and its Applications

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C312.1 Apply the basic concepts of GIS.
C312.2 Apply the knowledge of various types of data used in GIS analysis.
C312.3 Apply the various data management techniques used in GIS.
C312.4 Apply various applications of GIS in different fields.
C312.5 Apply different types of GIS analysis with the help of a case study.

Course Outcomes: Water Power Engineering

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C313.1 Understand the concepts of hydroelectric power, power potential, important hydropower plant in India, comparison of hydro, thermal & nuclear powers, future of hydro power, relation of water power and hydrology.
C313.2 Apply the reservoir capacity, pondage, and apply the concept for estimation of available waterpower.
C313.3 Understand the types of hydropower plant.
C313.4 Understand about pen stocks, and apply the concept for design criteria for pen stocks, economical diameter of pen stock.
C313.5 Understand about general layout of power house, general arrangement of hydroelectric unit, substructure, superstructure, abbreviated power houses, underground power house.

Course Outcomes: Modern Construction Material

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C315.1 Analyze the properties of high strength and high performance concrete on different construction methods.
C315.2 Analyze the different properties of alloys and their influence in civil engineering practices.
C315.3 Analyze the properties and effects of different composite materials
C315.4 Enumerate the effects and know about the properties of different water proofing compounds, flooring and façade materials.
C315.5 Apply the concept of smart and intelligent materials and their influence in civil engineering aspects.
