Course Outcomes

4th semester

Course Outcomes: Structural Analysis-I

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C207.1 Classify the static and kinematic determinate and indeterminate structure; Analyze the determinate plane and space trusses by method of substitution and method of tension coefficients.
C207.2 Analyze determinate beam using Double integration method, Macaulay’s method, Area moment method and Conjugate beam method.
C207.3 Analyze determinate beam, frame and truss using strain energy methods.
C207.4 Draw Influence line diagram of Reaction, Shear force and Bending moment for the simply supported beams and determinate trusses.
C207.5 Analyze cable, suspension bridges, two hinged and three hinged arches.

Course Outcomes: Fluid Mechanics-II

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C208.1 Analysis of different types of flow condition in pipes.
C208.2 Evaluate the concepts of boundary layer theories over the flat plate, skin friction, drag and lift over the sphere and cylinder.
C208.3 Analysis of flow over hump and transition, broad crested weir, equation of gradually varied flow, hydraulic jump and evaluation of its elements in rectangular channel.
C208.4 Analysis for transmission of pressure wave.
C208.5 Analyze different types of turbines and pumps.

Course Outcomes: Surveying-II

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C209.1 Apply the conceptual aspects of Triangulation and Trilateration survey including satellite stations, intervisibility of stations and computation of coordinates and adjustments of field observations related to field measurements.
C209.2 Evaluate the most probable values of observations with and without weights using Normal equation, method of differences and method of correlates and adjust triangulation figures by calculating errors and applying corrections.
C209.3 Apply the knowledge of tachometric survey to determine distances and elevations of points using Stadia , Substance, and Tangential methods
C209.4 Develop understanding of advanced surveying techniques and tools including EDM, total stations. Laser meters, GPS, GIS and remote sensing.
C209.5 Analyse the surveying details of a photograph based on the concepts of terrestrial, stereo Photogrammetric and aerial surveying and compute coordinates of points, distance and difference in elevations between points.

Course Outcomes: Civil Engineering Drawing

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C210.1 Apply various methods of general principles of planning and By-laws for residential Building and Public Building
C210.2 Draw plan of single, double story residential buildings.
C210.3 Draw elevation and section of single & double story buildings.
C210.4 Draw Single line plan of hostel, primary health center, school canteen.
C210.5 Draw detailed elevation and section of different types of doors, windows and elements of perspective view for simple blocks.

Course Outcomes: Building Construction

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C211.1 Evaluate suitable type of foundation for a soil, analyze causes of failures and apply remedial measures.
C211.2 Apply the knowledge of masonry work in construction.
C211.3 Apply the knowledge of floors, roofs and ceilings in construction.
C211.4 Apply the concept of damp proofing, plastering and pointing in construction.
C211.5 Apply knowledge of stairs, sound proofing materials according to type of construction and its requirements.

Course Outcomes: Transportation Engineering-I

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

C212.1 Understand the fundamentals of highway planning and apply in estimating of stopping sight distance and design of geomagnetic features.
C212.2 Analyze Speed-Volume-Density, Perform Highway Capacity Analysis and Describe Traffic Control Recognize problems and issues of Parking, Accident, and Public Transport.
C212.3 Apply the design methodologies of pavement and analyze the stresses as per recommendation made by IRC.
C212.4 Evaluate the different properties of material used in pavement and apply this in pavement Construction techniques and quality control.
C212.5 Understand the basic aspects of Airport planning, Runway length and geometric design of taxiways as per Indian Standards and recommendations.
